Our mission is to deliver high-quality outdoor gear that enables every hunter to fully enjoy their experience in the field. We are dedicated to preserving the traditions of hunting and fostering a rich hunting culture for future generations.

OUR STORY

My name is Steven Onaka, I am originally from the Big Island of Hawai’i and now reside in Arizona. I graduated with a BS in Forestry at NAU. I grew up hunting, fishing, diving, and utilizing the many resources available, and loved doing it. Going to other western states like Alaska and Montana was always a great experience that opened my eyes to the way other people hunt and fish. From those trips, I felt so grateful to have the chance of doing what we love in so many different environments in such a beautiful country.

Mauka means mountainside or towards the mountain in Hawaiian. It is used as a navigational term in Hawai’i, but for me, it means so much more. As much as I love diving and fishing, I spent the majority of my time up mauka hunting sheep, goats, deer, and pigs. It is a huge part of who I am today and why I decided to name the company Mauka.
